Stewards' Decision
- Decision: No further action.
Reason for Decision
The Stewards received a report from the Race Director (documents 47 & 48) and heard from both drivers and team representatives. They reviewed video, timing, and in-car video evidence.
Incident Description:
- Car 63 (George Russell) and Car 16 (Charles Leclerc) were involved in a collision at Turn 12.
- Car 63 was ahead of Car 16 at Turn 11 but lost the position to Car 16 at the exit of Turn 12.
Investigation:
- The Stewards investigated whether either driver should have acted differently, considering driving standards guidelines.
- They also examined whether Car 16 remained on track or left it at Turn 12.
- The available evidence was inconclusive regarding whether Car 16 left the track. Both team representatives agreed there was no clear evidence of Car 16 leaving the track.
- Both drivers considered this a racing incident and felt no further consequences were warranted.
Conclusion:
After reviewing all available evidence, the Stewards reached the same conclusion as the drivers and team representatives. Consequently, no further action was taken.
