Summary of the Matter

The Stewards received a report from the Race Director regarding an incident involving Car 14 (Fernando Alonso) during the reconnaissance laps of the Race session.

Details of the Infringement

• No / Driver: 14 - Fernando Alonso
• Competitor: Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team
• Time of Incident: 14:25
• Session: Race
• Fact: Car 14 crossed back into the Pit Exit Road when exiting the pits during the reconnaissance laps.
• Infringement: Breach of Article 12.2.1 i) of the FIA International Sporting Code and non-compliance with Race Director's Event Notes (item 13.5, document 4).

Stewards' Decision and Reasoning

• Decision: Driver: Warning.
• Reason:
  • The Stewards reviewed video and in-car video evidence.
  • Car 14 exited the pits during the reconnaissance laps without performing a practice start.
  • The driver crossed the pit exit line while passing other drivers queuing for practice starts, as stipulated in the Race Director's Event Notes.
  • Instead of moving to the regular racing line, the driver then crossed back into the Pit Exit Road, which is a clear breach of item 13.5 of the Race Director's Event Notes.
  • Given that no dangerous situation was created and no other cars were affected by this infringement, the Stewards deemed a Warning to be sufficient.

Competitors are reminded of their right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 4 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits.
