The Stewards have reviewed a report from the Race Director regarding an incident involving Car 12 (Kimi Antonelli) and Car 23 during the race.

Incident Details

• No / Driver: 12 - Kimi Antonelli
• Competitor: Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team
• Time of Incident: 16:04
• Session: Race
• Fact: Car 12 forced Car 23 onto the grass at high speed before Turn 3.
• Infringement: Breach of Appendix L, Chapter IV, Article 2 e) of the International Sporting Code.

Decision

• Penalty: 5-second time penalty.
• Penalty Points: 1 penalty point (bringing the total to 5 for the 12-month period).

Reason for Decision

The Stewards thoroughly reviewed video and in-car video evidence. It was observed that Car 23 was attempting to overtake Car 12 after Turn 2 and into Turn 3. As Car 23 pulled alongside Car 12 at high speed, the driver of Car 12 moved to the left, squeezing Car 23, which resulted in two wheels of Car 23 going onto the grass.

The Stewards determined that this maneuver by Car 12 was potentially dangerous to Car 23. However, they also noted that the driver of Car 23 maintained control of their car and was subsequently able to overtake Car 12 into Turn 4. Given these circumstances, a 5-second time penalty was deemed sufficient.

Competitors are reminded of their right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 4 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the specified time limits.

Decisions made by the Stewards are independent of the FIA and are based solely on the presented regulations, guidelines, and evidence.
