The Stewards, having received a report from the Race Director, have considered the following matter and determine the following:
Incident Details
- Driver: 31 - Esteban Ocon
- Competitor: TGR Haas F1 Team
- Time: 13:49
- Session: Free Practice 1
Fact & Infringement
- Fact: Car 31 left the pit lane when the light at the end of the pit lane was red.
- Infringement: Breach of Article B1.6.3e of the FIA F1 Regulations.
Decision
No penalty is applied.
Reason
The Stewards reviewed positioning/marshalling system data, video, timing, telemetry, and in-car video evidence.
- The timing data shows the car crossed the line 1.11 seconds after the end of the session.
- However, video evidence shows it is almost certain that the driver could not have seen the light change from green to red due to his close proximity to the line at the pit exit.
Therefore, although a breach of regulation was committed, in view of the mitigating circumstances of the driver being unable to see the red light, no penalty is applied.
