Date: 03 May 2026 Time: 17:46

Summary of Incident

Stewards received a report from the Race Director (document 83) concerning Car 3, driven by Max Verstappen of Oracle Red Bull Racing. After hearing from the driver and team representative, and reviewing evidence, the following determination was made:

  • Driver: 3 - Max Verstappen
  • Competitor: Oracle Red Bull Racing
  • Session: Race
  • Fact: Crossed the white line at pit exit.
  • Infringement: Breach of Appendix L, Chapter IV Article 6 c) of the International Sporting Code.

Decision

5-second time penalty imposed after the Race (5 seconds added to elapsed Race time).

Reason for Decision

  1. Evidence Reviewed: The Stewards heard from Max Verstappen and the team representative, and reviewed video and in-car video evidence.
  2. Initial Assessment: Initially, there was limited video evidence to make a clear decision. The Stewards decided to investigate post-race to obtain better video evidence from various angles.
  3. Further Evidence: New angles provided clearer views of the pit exit line and the incident. Max Verstappen explained that he rejoined the race under a full course yellow.
  4. Determination: The Stewards concluded that the outside of the front left-hand tyre of Car 3 crossed the solid white pit exit line, violating Appendix L, Chapter IV Article 6 c) of the International Sporting Code.
  5. Penalty: Given the nature of the infraction, a 5-second time penalty was imposed.

Right to Appeal
