Infringement
Breach of Article 12.2.1.h of the FIA International Sporting Code.
Decision
The driver George Russell is fined €5,000, suspended for a period of 12 months subject to no further breaches by the driver of a similar nature.
Reason
The Stewards reviewed video evidence and heard from George Russell and the Mercedes team representative.
- The driver explained he was extremely frustrated after failing to finish the race (DNF) and expressed embarrassment regarding his subsequent actions.
- He apologized to the Stewards, acknowledged that throwing the head restraint did not set a good example, and offered to make a public apology.
- The Stewards accepted his apology.
