Document 25 - Infringement - Car 12 - Failure to slow under yellow flags
To: The Team Manager, Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team Date: 20 September 2025 Time: 19:14
Incident Details
- No / Driver: 12 - Kimi Antonelli
- Competitor: Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team
- Time of Incident: 16:04
- Session: Qualifying
- Fact: The driver of Car 12 overtook two cars between turns 1 and 2 at 16:04.
- Infringement: Breach of Appendix H, Article 2.5.5 b) of the International Sporting Code.
Decision
Driver: Reprimand (Driving). This is the driver's 1st reprimand of the season.
Reason for Decision
- The Stewards reviewed data, video, timing, telemetry, and in-car video evidence, and heard from the driver (Kimi Antonelli) and the team representative.
- Car 12's dash briefly displayed a yellow indication, which then disappeared. No yellow flag or yellow light panel was shown to the driver.
- The driver passed two cars. The team then advised him to abandon the lap due to a potential double yellow flag condition (which was later determined not to exist).
- The driver subsequently abandoned the lap, gaining no sporting advantage.
- Considering the mitigating circumstances and consistency with similar past incidents, a reduced penalty of a Reprimand was imposed.
