Doc 40 - Post-Race Procedure
Notices/Procedures
This document outlines the post-race interviews and podium ceremony procedures for the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Post-Race Interviews & Podium Ceremony Procedure
- Ceremony Master: An FIA-appointed master of ceremonies will oversee the entire podium event.
- Top Drivers & World Champion: After the checkered flag, the top three drivers and the World Champion (if not in the top three) should remain on track, drop to the back, and proceed to the Grid for celebrations. They then move to the start light gantry where they will find the 1, 2, 3, and World Champion boards.
- Yielding for World Champion: Remaining drivers in the top three must yield to allow the World Champion to proceed to the grid first.
- Driver Weighing: Drivers will be weighed by the FIA, fully attired (helmet, gloves, etc.). Water will be available in the parc fermé area after weighing.
- Restricted Area: Only team mechanics (with cooling fans), officials, and FIA pre-approved TV/photographer crews are allowed in the designated area. No team PR personnel or driver physios are permitted until after the podium ceremony.
- Attire Regulations: Drivers finishing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd must remain fully attired in their driving suits, 'done up' to the neck, not opened to the waist, during post-race interviews and the podium ceremony, as per Article 63.2 of the Sporting Regulations.
- Post-Race Interviews: These will occur in a designated area, with the interviewer selected by the Commercial Rights Holder.
- Parc Fermé Protocols: Drivers must not interfere with parc fermé protocols.
- Cool Down Room: After interviews, drivers will be escorted to the cool down room and given a Pirelli Cap.
- Podium Area: Drivers will then be escorted to the podium area.
- Podium Ceremony: The 3rd and 2nd placed drivers will be introduced first, followed by the winning driver.
- National Anthems & Trophies: National anthems will be played, flags displayed, and dignitaries will present trophies as arranged by the Master of Ceremonies.
- Presentation Order: Winning Driver, FIA Medal for Winning Driver, Winning Constructor Representative, 2nd Place Driver, 3rd Place Driver.
- Media Engagement: After the podium, the top three drivers will be escorted to the TV pen, then to the FIA Press Conference. An FIA World Champion Press Conference will follow the top three drivers' press conference.
- Other Drivers (4th and beyond): Must go directly to the TV pen after being weighed in Parc Fermé, remaining fully attired until after weighing. Those without a scheduled written media session must be available for interviews in the written media zone after TV interviews.
- Retired Drivers: Drivers who retire during the race must go to the TV pen (and written media pen if applicable) upon returning to the paddock.
