The Stewards have reviewed a report from the Race Director and considered the following matter:

Incident Details

  • No / Driver: 87 - Oliver Bearman
  • Competitor: MoneyGram Haas F1 Team
  • Time of Incident: 18:30
  • Session: Race
  • Fact: Car 87 made more than one change of direction to defend its position.
  • Infringement: Breach of Appendix L, Chapter IV, Article 2 b) of the International Sporting Code.

Decision

  • Penalty: 5 second time penalty.
  • Penalty Points: 1 penalty point (total of 10 for the 12-month period).

Reason

The Stewards reviewed video and in-car video evidence. Car 87 was observed defending its position against Car 18 on the straight prior to Turn 9, making multiple moves to change direction. This action constitutes a breach of the regulations.

Competitors are reminded of their right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 4 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits.

Decisions of the Stewards are made independently of the FIA and are based solely on the relevant regulations, guidelines, and evidence presented.
