The driver of Car 11 explained that, due to the relatively short pit lane at this circuit and the proximity of the last car on the grid to the pit entry, he was focused on reaching the pit exit lights as quickly as possible in order to complete the prescribed pit lane start procedure within the required timeframe. As a result, he was not aware that he had moved ahead of Car 77 before crossing the SC1 line.

Having considered the matter, the Stewards determined that this constituted a breach of Article B5.6.4 of the FIA F1 Sporting Regulations. However, the Stewards also noted that Car 11 was entering the pit lane to start the race from the pit lane and hence the mandatory penalty of a pit lane start was redundant. In the circumstances, the Stewards considered that a Warning was the appropriate penalty.

---
The Stewards:
- Garry Connelly
- Matthew Selley
- Richa Mergulhao
- Vitantonio Liuzzi
- István Moni
