Incident Details
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Driver | Nico Hulkenberg (Car 27) |
| Competitor | Audi Revolut F1 Team |
| Session | Race |
| Infringement | Breach of Article B5.6.4 of the FIA F1 Regulations |
Decision
- Penalty: A mandatory Stop-and-Go penalty is imposed after the race. However, this penalty is suspended until the end of the 2026 season, provided no further similar breach occurs.
- Additional: The driver is Reprimanded for failing to start the formation lap in the correct order. This is the driver's first reprimand of the season.
Reasoning
The Stewards reviewed evidence including positioning/marshalling system data, video, timing, and in-car footage. The incident was unusual: Car 27 was slow to start, and Car 30 started earlier than expected. Car 27 was unable to safely pass Car 30 to regain position.
Despite the incorrect order at the SC1 line, the start was not delayed, and there was no impact on the competition. The Stewards deemed the mandatory Stop-and-Go penalty disproportionate to the minor impact of the breach and decided to suspend it under ISC Article 12.4.6.
