Incident Overview

The Stewards received a report from the Race Director (document 24) and, after hearing from the team representative, have determined the following regarding Car 23, driven by Alexander Albon of Atlassian Williams F1 Team.

• Driver: 23 - Alexander Albon
• Competitor: Atlassian Williams F1 Team
• Session: Sprint Qualifying (SQ1)
• Time of Incident: 16:42
• Fact: Car 23 exceeded track limits at Turn 6 during SQ1.

Infringement

Breaches of Article B1.8.6 of the FIA F1 Regulations and Appendix L, Chapter IV, Article 2 c) of the International Sporting Code.

Decision

• The lap time of 1:30.988 for Car 23 recorded in SQ1 is hereby deleted.
• All lap times of Car 23 in SQ2 are deleted.
• Car 23 will therefore be classified in position 19 in Sprint Qualifying.

Reason for Decision

1. Evidence Reviewed: The Stewards heard from the team representative and reviewed positioning/marshalling system data and video evidence.
2. SQ1 Track Limits: During SQ1, Car 23 clearly exceeded track limits at Turn 6.
3. Delayed Report: This infringement was not reported to the Stewards until SQ2 had already commenced. The lap time where Car 23 exceeded track limits was sufficient to place the car in SQ2.
4. Unusual Situation: At the time the Stewards were informed, Car 23 was already on track in SQ2. Recognizing this unusual situation, the Stewards exercised their authority under Article 11.7.1.a of the International Sporting Code.
5. Consequence: Since Car 23 should not have proceeded into SQ2, all lap times recorded by Car 23 during SQ2 are consequently deleted.

Right to Appeal

Competitors are reminded of their right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 5 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits.
