Document 29 - FP1 and Sprint Qualifying Scrutineering Report

This report details the technical checks performed by the FIA Formula 1 Technical Delegate during the 2026 Miami Grand Prix weekend, covering the period before, during, and after the first free practice session, and before and during the Sprint Qualifying session.

Before the First Free Practice Session

  • Exhaust System Components: All cars' exhaust system components were checked against team declarations.

During the First Free Practice Session (P1)

  • Tyre Starting Pressures: Checked on all cars.
  • Fuel System Checks: Fuel flow meter calibration checksum, fuel temperature, and fuel pressure (after session) were checked on all cars.
  • Engine Checks: Plenum temperature, engine intake air pressure, logged pressure within the engine cooling system (after session), and maximum turbocharger speed (after session) were checked on all cars.
  • Sensor and Software Checks: DC sensor code, calibration checksums, and DC sensor temperatures were checked on all cars.
  • Car Weighing: Car number 87 was weighed.

Before the Sprint Qualifying Session

  • Fuel Samples: Fuel samples were taken from car numbers 11 and 10.
  • Engine Oil Samples: Engine oil samples were taken from car numbers 06 and 11.
  • Gear Ratios: Confirmed that all cars used declared gear ratios for the remainder of the competition.

During the Sprint Qualifying Session

Weighing and Weight Distribution

  • Weighed Cars: Car numbers 81, 63, 41, 27, 11, and 77 were weighed.
  • Weight Distribution: Checked on car numbers 81, 63, 41, 27, 11, and 77.

Aerodynamic Component and Bodywork Checks

  • Car 77: The following areas were checked:
    • Floor Body, Floor Foot, Floor Sidewall, Floor Board, Floor Bib, Floor Leading Edge Device, Floor Corner (Articles C3.5.1, C3.5.2, C3.5.3, C3.5.5, C3.5.6, C3.5.7, C3.5.10)
    • Nose, Forward Chassis, Mid Chassis, Roll Hoop, Mirror (Articles C3.7.1, C3.7.2, C3.7.3, C3.7.4, C3.7.5)
    • Sidepod, Engine Cover (Articles C3.8.1, C3.8.2)
    • Front Wing Profiles, Front Wing Endplate body, Front Wing Outboard Footplate, Front Wing Inboard Footplate, Front Wing Endplate Diveplane, Front Wing Strake, Rear Wing Profiles, Rear Wing Endplate Body, Rear Wing Pylon, Rear Wing Aux. Components (Articles C3.10.1, C3.10.2, C3.10.3, C3.10.4, C3.10.5, C3.10.8, C3.11.1, C3.11.2, C3.11.4, C3.11.7)
  • Car 01, 16, 44, 10, and 43: The same aerodynamic and bodywork areas were checked.

General Checks During Qualifying Sessions

  • Tyre Pressures: Tyre starting pressures of all cars were checked.
  • Engine Cooling System: Logged pressure within the engine cooling system was checked on all cars.
  • Fuel System: Fuel flow meter calibration checksums, instantaneous fuel energy flow, and fuel temperature were checked on all cars.
  • Engine Performance: Plenum temperature, engine intake air pressure, and maximum turbocharger speed were checked on all cars.
  • Sensor and Software: DC sensor code, calibration checksums, DC sensor temperatures, on-track ES state of charge, ERS recharge limits, and maximum MGU-K speed were checked on all cars.
  • Session Type: Confirmed for all cars.
  • Chassis FIA Checksum: Checked on all cars participating in Sprint Qualifying.
  • Brakes and Steering: Rear brakes pressure control and steering wheel were checked on all cars.
  • Software Versions: Custom software and SECU software versions were checked on all cars.
  • Tyre Cold Pressure: Checked on car number 81.
  • Tyre Usage: Tyres used by all drivers during today's sessions were checked.

Fuel and Oil Analysis

  • Fuel Samples: All fuel samples were checked for density and analyzed by gas chromatography, confirming consistency with approved fuels and within permitted density change limits.
  • Engine Oil Samples: Engine oil samples were analyzed by FTIR spectroscopy and viscometry, confirming consistency with approved reference samples.
