Piastri unfazed by FIA check after Miami dominance: "No concerns, play on!"
Oscar Piastri has sent a clear message to his rivals after his McLaren MCL39 underwent an FIA investigation following his dominant win at the Miami Grand Prix.
Piastri secured his fourth victory of the 2025 F1 season at the Miami Autodrome, passing pole-sitter Max Verstappen to lead Lando Norris in a dominant McLaren 1-2 finish.
Piastri: "No concerns, play on!"
The McLaren teammates finished over 30 seconds ahead of third-placed George Russell, marking the team's most commanding win of the season.
However, amid speculation that Red Bull was using thermal cameras to examine a cooling spot on McLaren's rear brakes, suspecting tyre or brake manipulation, Piastri's MCL39 was randomly selected by the FIA for a thorough post-race inspection.
Ahead of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, the sport's governing body confirmed that Piastri's car was found to be compliant with regulations in Miami.
"All inspected components were found to be in conformance with the 2025 Formula One Technical Regulations," stated the FIA.
Piastri expressed no surprise at the outcome.
"Honestly, I haven't read anything because I've had no concerns," the championship leader commented. "Maybe next time we'll put some little figurines in a water slide as well – I don't know – we'll come up with something.
"But clearly, it's all been passed. I had no concerns. Play on."
With three consecutive Grand Prix wins, Piastri aims to become the 16th F1 driver to achieve four consecutive victories, a feat only Ayrton Senna has accomplished for McLaren.
This victory would also extend Piastri's lead in the Drivers' Championship, currently 16 points ahead of Norris, with Max Verstappen a further 16 points behind.
Piastri is focused on extending his winning streak rather than solely on the championship battle.
Asked about potentially running away with the championship, Piastri responded: "We have the strengths and characteristics to keep winning races, definitely.
"We've seen at various tracks that the competition has been close, and I'm not expecting every weekend to look like Sunday did in Miami, but Friday and Saturday in Miami didn't look as good as Sunday.
"There will be a lot of competition, but I feel like I'm driving well at the moment. I feel like the team is doing a really good job helping me get the most out of myself, get the most out of the car, and clearly, the car is very strong.
"We have the potential to have a really good year, but I'm not too concerned about that at the moment. I'm just trying to win more races."
Norris acknowledged that while McLaren's tyre wear is a significant advantage, the MCL39's success stems from more than just tyre management.
"It's very difficult to know, to be honest," Norris told the media, including PlanetF1.com, when asked about the car's advantage. "A lot of people talk about the tyres all the time, but it's not just the tyres.
"There are many different things we do well, including the car's balance and performance. We just need to keep focusing on our own job.
"We haven't had many big upgrades while other teams have, so we're taking our time and doing things our way. And I'm happy with that.
"Our clear advantage is on Sundays, but everyone gets close on Saturdays.
"There are many midfield teams that catch up and are fast on Saturday, then drop back on Sunday. F1 is very close nowadays. You can still see big differences on Sunday. We see Alpine and AlphaTauri [VCARB] up there at times, and that makes for unexpected competition on Saturdays.
"But we know our strength is on Sunday, and we want to improve our Saturdays, so we're working hard to increase our Saturday performance."
