McLaren issue statement after deadly Bicester Motion fire tragically kills three

McLaren Formula E team have issued a statement after a deadly fire at Bicester Motion resulted in three deaths.

Two firefighters and a member of the public lost their lives in the blaze at Bicester Motion, Oxfordshire, on Thursday evening. Two other firefighters were hospitalized with serious injuries.

The local council has confirmed the fire is now under control.

McLaren operate their Formula E team out of Bicester Motion, which is also home to other businesses.

In a statement on Friday, McLaren expressed their sympathies:

"We are extremely saddened to hear about the fatalities and injuries as a result of the fire at Bicester Motion last night.

"We are immensely grateful for the bravery and commitment of the Emergency Services, and our thoughts are with the families at this difficult time."

Chief fire officer Rob MacDougall reported the loss of two firefighters, stating, "Families have been informed and are being supported."

Former F1 champion Damon Hill, who was in the area, also issued condolences on Friday morning after seeing the fire's true impact.
