- Fact: Car 12 collided with Car 6 in Turn 6 on Lap 1.
- Infringement: Breach of Appendix L, Chapter IV, Article 2d of the FIA International Sporting Code.
Decision
- Penalty: 10 second time penalty.
Reason for Decision
Stewards reviewed video and in-car video evidence and found the following:
- Car 6 (Isaac Hadjar) attempted to overtake Car 12 (Kimi Antonelli) on the outside at Turn 6.
- Prior to the apex, Car 6's front axle was ahead of Car 12's front axle, giving Car 6 the right to racing room on the inside, as per Driving Standards Guidelines.
- Car 12 locked a rear wheel while approaching the apex and understeered, hitting the side of Car 6.
- This collision pushed Car 6 wide off the track, causing it to lose a position to Car 12.
- The Stewards concluded that the driver of Car 12 was entirely at fault for the collision.
Right to Appeal
Competitors are reminded of their right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards within the applicable time limits, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 5 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules.
