Yuki Tsunoda has vowed to maintain his current approach despite a challenging run of form at Visa Cash App RB. The Japanese driver insists he doesn't need to alter his personal methods as he seeks an uptick in performance.
Why it matters
Tsunoda's struggle to score points marks his longest streak without points since joining a Red Bull-affiliated team, raising questions about his performance and the team's package. This dry spell is unprecedented for a driver in the Red Bull family.
The details
Tsunoda, driving for the Faenza-based Visa Cash App RB team, has failed to score points in the previous seven rounds. Despite this, he remains confident in his process. "I've got to do exactly the same things that I was doing since the previous races," Tsunoda stated. "And I don’t think I have to change anything. I’m just focusing on that." He acknowledges frustration but believes there's clear progress within his engineering side. "We know that there’s clear progress and a clear pace," he added, "If we just compare on paper, we’re having good pace."
What's next
Tsunoda is optimistic the team can unlock more performance from the car. He believes that once they achieve a "bit of a gain from the package," they will make a "clear step" and return to point-scoring positions. Both Tsunoda and Visa Cash App RB are focused on translating their perceived pace into tangible race results to break this prolonged drought.
