F1 Qualifying Format Explained
F1 qualifying uses a three-part knockout format over one hour:
- Q1: 18 minutes. Five slowest drivers (P16-20) are eliminated.
- Q2: 15 minutes (after an 8-minute break). Five more drivers (P11-15) are eliminated.
- Q3: 12 minutes (after a 7-minute break). The remaining 10 drivers compete for pole position (P1-10).
