Perez: Cadillac to Use New Ferrari Engine in Baku, 'Painful' End Expected

Sergio Perez hopes Cadillac will use Ferrari's upgraded engine for the first time at the Azerbaijan GP, as the team chases its first points of the season.

Ferrari introduced the new unit at Monza for Hamilton, Leclerc and Bearman, but Ocon and both Cadillac drivers haven't taken it yet. The upgrade targets the straight-line speed deficit to Mercedes.

Why it matters:

Cadillac has no points in 14 races, with Bottas's 13th in China the best result. Perez was 10th in Monaco before a penalty stripped the point. Extra engine performance could be the key to scoring at Baku.

• Perez: "I really hope that we are able to put the new engine in the car and make a bit of a step because we really need a little bit more. It is the plan at the moment."

Baku's low-speed corners may suit the car better. As Bottas said, 'The only high-speed corners are to flat out.' If the upgraded engine arrives, Cadillac could finally get off the mark.
