Madrid GP: Sainz, Alonso, Norris unveil special helmets for inaugural race

Formula 1's arrival in Madrid for the Spanish Grand Prix has brought a wave of special helmet designs, with several drivers marking the inaugural event at the new Madring circuit. Home heroes Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso, along with McLaren's Lando Norris, have all unveiled one-off liveries for the weekend.

• Carlos Sainz – The Madrid-born driver, who also serves as an ambassador for the circuit, is bringing back a design inspired by his karting beginnings in 2005. The helmet features a clean white base with red and yellow details representing the Spanish flag, echoing the original design influenced by his father, rally legend Carlos Sainz Sr. "From my first karting race in 2005 to my first F1 race in Madrid... I wanted to go back to where it all started," Sainz posted.
• Fernando Alonso – The Aston Martin driver has collaborated with team partner BOSS for a one-off design captioned "Tailored for speed." Alonso arrived in the Madrid paddock wearing a BOSS Performance Suit and carrying the matching helmet, which moves away from his usual colorful look to an all-black design with white accents.
• Lando Norris – The McLaren driver's vibrant pop-art helmet was created by Madrid-based artist, illustrator and muralist Be Fernandez. Norris gave her creative freedom to blend Madrid with his own style. "Be knows Madrid and its culture far better than I ever could, so I basically gave her the helmet and told her to do her thing," he explained. The result is a fun, different design that brings together the city, the artist, and the driver.
