Liam Lawson has identified Racing Bulls' primary weakness as the inability to consistently "put everything together" during qualifying sessions.
Why it matters
Lawson has shown strong form recently, scoring points in four of the last seven Grands Prix before Formula 1's summer break. Despite a challenging start to the season and his demotion from Red Bull, he has significantly closed the gap to teammate Isack Hadjar, now trailing by just two points. His momentum is particularly strong heading into the Dutch Grand Prix, where he made his F1 debut two years ago.
The Challenge
However, Lawson's recent points finishes have only occurred when he has successfully advanced to Q3. Consistently reaching the final qualifying segment remains a significant hurdle for the 23-year-old. The midfield battle in F1 is incredibly tight, making every tenth of a second crucial. He and the Faenza-based team are working intensively to unlock consistent performance from the car.
Lawson's Perspective
Discussing the team's needs, Lawson emphasized to media, including RacingNews365: "Formula 1 is very, very close at the moment. The teams are all within very small margins, and it makes it obviously that bit more important to extract everything out of the car and out of the drivers in qualifying. The speed has been very, very good in the car. So basically, putting everything together for qualifying is what's needed. We've not been able to do that every single time, and not enough. And that's what we're basically trying to do."
