Lewis Hamilton's Ferrari execution request goes unanswered at Zandvoort

Lewis Hamilton asked Ferrari for one thing heading into the Dutch Grand Prix: better execution in the second half of the season. By Sunday evening at Zandvoort, that request had gone unanswered.

• Before the weekend, Hamilton praised the team's belief: "Everyone's really buoyed up... except that we've just got to... execute better."
• Ferrari's third major aero update of 2026 — new floor, reworked diffuser, revised beam wing — underwhelmed in qualifying: Hamilton P5, Leclerc P6, more than three tenths off pole.
• The SF-26's long-run pace was strong; Fred Vasseur said it was better than Mercedes', yet Antonelli and Russell finished P2/P3 while Hamilton and Leclerc took P4/P5.
• Hamilton was vocal on the radio, stuck behind Leclerc on fresher tyres and a different strategy. Later, left on old tyres while leading, he asked if he was being used as a "Guinea Pig."

This is not a one-off. Vasseur called Ferrari's execution "very poor" in Hungary just before the break. At Zandvoort, he cited Leclerc's poor second start, a slow pit stop and a miscommunication with Hamilton as concrete errors. Hamilton later accepted responsibility for his radio outbursts, saying "that wasn't the best version of me," but insisted "the fight is absolutely still on." The pace is real. The execution is not — and Hamilton's request remains unfulfilled.
