Hamilton and Ferrari Urged to Address Issues as Verstappen Favored for US GP

As Formula 1 prepares for the United States Grand Prix this weekend, the discourse is centered on two contrasting narratives: the mounting pressure on Lewis Hamilton's tenure at Ferrari and Max Verstappen's unwavering dominance. Analysts suggest that the partnership between the seven-time champion and the Scuderia has reached a point where candid, "difficult conversations" are no longer optional but necessary to align their goals for the 2026 season.

Why it matters:

The Hamilton-Ferrari move was the most anticipated driver transfer in history, intended to revitalize both the driver's winning ways and the team's championship drought. Now, deep into the 2026 season, any misalignment between Hamilton’s expectations and the car's actual performance creates a volatile environment. Addressing these frictions is critical to ensure the project doesn't stall before the season finale.

The Details:

• Verstappen's Edge: There is a unanimous verdict among experts that Max Verstappen enters the Austin weekend as the clear favorite, reflecting Red Bull's continued strength in the current technical landscape.
• Ferrari's Internal Dialogue: The urged "difficult conversation" likely pertains to the gap between the SF-26's theoretical pace and its actual race-day execution.
• The US GP Context: The race on October 25 serves as a pivotal momentum-builder leading into the final stretch of the season, which includes the high-stakes flyaways in Mexico and Brazil.

What's next:

With only six races remaining in the 2026 calendar, the focus shifts to whether Ferrari can implement the necessary changes to support Hamilton. While Verstappen looks poised to take the top step in Austin, the real story remains whether the Scuderia can turn their internal dialogues into tangible on-track results before the season concludes in Abu Dhabi.
