But while the June 12-13 race avoids a direct clash with F1, obstacles remain for Max Verstappen or Lando Norris to make the leap.

An active F1 driver hasn't raced at Le Mans since Nico Hulkenberg in 2015. With Monaco and Portugal on either side, travel logistics are simple. Yet test-day rules, team politics, and seat availability still complicate the path.

• Test day conflict: Le Mans' mandatory rookie test day falls on the Monaco GP weekend. Rookies must complete 10 laps, but Platinum drivers can apply for an exemption, as seen with Frijns and Siegel.
• Logistics vs. politics: A driver could fly from Monaco to Le Mans early Sunday and return for the race. But with a Saturday sprint, teams like McLaren may be reluctant to compromise their F1 weekend.
• Seat availability: A third Hypercar entry is impractical for new teams like McLaren and Ford. However, McLaren may run only two full-time drivers per car, potentially leaving a seat for Norris at Le Mans and other endurance rounds.
