Summary of Incident

The Stewards, after receiving a report from the Race Director, have determined the following regarding Car 81 (Oscar Piastri):

  • No / Driver: 81 - Oscar Piastri
  • Competitor: McLaren Formula 1 Team
  • Time of Incident: 15:03
  • Session: Race
  • Fact: Car 81 moved forward from its start position prior to the start signal.
  • Infringement: Breach of Article 48.1 a) of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations.

Decision

5 second time penalty.

Reason

The Stewards reviewed the following evidence:

  • Positioning/marshalling system data
  • Video evidence
  • Timing data
  • Team radio communications
  • In-car video evidence

The video evidence clearly showed Car 81 moving before the official start signal for the race was given.

Right to Appeal

Competitors are reminded of their right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 4 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits.
