Document 39 - Infringement - Car 23 - Failure to slow for double yellow flags
- Date: 05 September 2026
- Driver: Alexander Albon (Car 23)
- Competitor: Atlassian Williams F1 Team
- Session: Free Practice 3
- Time: 13:02
- Fact: The driver of Car 23 failed to slow for double Yellow Flags.
- Infringement: Breach of Article B1.8.4b of the FIA F1 Regulations.
- Decision: Driver: Reprimand (Driving). This is the driver’s 2nd reprimand of the season.
Reason
- The Stewards reviewed positioning/marshalling system data, video, timing, telemetry, and in-car video evidence, and heard from the driver and team representative.
- The driver was not shown the yellow flag nor were yellow lights displayed, but a green light panel denoting the end of a yellow flag zone was visible briefly (less than 2 seconds).
- Mitigation: The driver was looking at the apex and had very little time to react to the green light. Although technically a breach, the standard penalty for Free Practice (10-grid position drop) was reduced due to these mitigating circumstances.
