Reasoning

The Stewards reviewed video, team radio, and in-car video evidence.

• Incident: Approaching Turn 5 on the opening lap, Car 63 attempted an overtake around the outside of Car 44 and had established sufficient overlap.
• Cause: Car 44 experienced understeer and, despite corrective steering, made contact with the right-hand side of Car 63.
• Mitigation: The Stewards recognized that Car 44 attempted to leave racing room and that the collision was due to a loss of front-end grip on the opening lap, rather than an aggressive maneuver.
• Penalty: While Car 44 was at fault, the Stewards applied a 5-second penalty instead of the standard 10-second penalty in accordance with the FIA Penalty Guidelines.
