Document 30 - Post-Qualifying Procedure

This document outlines the procedures for drivers after the qualifying sessions at the 2026 Australian Grand Prix.

Post-Qualifying Procedure for Top Three Drivers

Immediate Actions:

  • Return to Pit Lane: The fastest three drivers in Q3 must return to the Pit Lane, where they will find the 1,2,3 boards in front of the FIA Garage.
  • Restricted Area Access: Only team mechanics (with cooling fans if needed), officials, FIA pre-approved television crews, and photographers are allowed in the designated area. No driver physios or team PR personnel are permitted.
  • Driver Weighing: The top three drivers will be weighed by the FIA immediately after exiting their cars. Drivers must remain fully attired (e.g., helmet, gloves) until weighing is complete.

Interview and Media Engagements:

  • Parc Ferme Interviews: After weighing, post-qualifying interviews will take place in Parc Ferme, conducted by an interviewer selected by the Commercial Rights Holder.
  • Photo Opportunities: Drivers will proceed to the backdrop for Top 3 and Pirelli Award photo opportunities after live interviews.
  • Press Conference: Drivers will be escorted by the FIA Media Delegate to the FIA Press Conference.
  • TV Pen: Following the press conference, drivers will be taken to the TV pen.

Procedures for Other Drivers

Weighing Procedures:

  • Q1/Q2 Eliminated & Non-Participants: Drivers eliminated in Q1 and Q2, those classified 4th to 10th in Q3, and eligible drivers who did not participate in Q1 must attend the TV pen interview immediately after being weighed by the FIA at the end of their last qualifying session.
  • Drivers Outside Top 3: Any drivers who completed qualifying sessions after Q1 and Q2 must proceed to the FIA scales in the pit lane immediately after returning to their team's garage. They must not consume anything that increases their weight before it is recorded.
  • Track Stoppage: Any driver who stops on track during qualifying and does not require a visit to the Medical Centre must go to the FIA scales for weight recording before returning to their team.
  • Top 10 Finishers: Drivers finishing within the top 10 must proceed to the FIA scales immediately after exiting their cars, without contact with any other person.

Media Engagements:

  • Written Media Zone: Drivers from 4th place onwards who do not have a pre-arranged written media session after qualifying must be available for interviews in the written media zone adjacent to the TV pen once their TV interviews are concluded.
