The Stewards have reviewed a report from the Race Director and considered the following matter:

Incident Details

  • No / Driver: 22 - Yuki Tsunoda
  • Competitor: Oracle Red Bull Racing
  • Time: 17:37
  • Session: Race
  • Fact: Car 22 made more than one change of direction to defend its position.

Infringement

Breach of Appendix L, Chapter IV, Article 2 b) of the International Sporting Code.

Decision

  • 5 second time penalty.
  • 1 penalty point (total of 8 for the 12-month period).

Reason for Decision

The Stewards reviewed video, team radio, and in-car video evidence. Car 4 was attempting an overtaking move on Car 22. Car 22 made multiple changes of direction, which ultimately forced Car 4 off track to avoid a collision. In doing so, Car 22 effectively forced Car 4 off the track.

Competitors are reminded of their right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 4 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits.

Decisions of the Stewards are made independently of the FIA and are based solely on the relevant regulations, guidelines, and evidence presented.
