Haas Demands FIA Explanation Over Bearman's Q1 Disqualification

Haas F1 team has requested a written explanation from the FIA regarding the decision to disqualify Oliver Bearman from Q1 during the Emilia Romagna GP qualifying.

Bearman's final lap time in Q1 seemed sufficient to advance him to Q2, but it coincided with a red flag triggered by Franco Colapinto's crash. Despite TV footage and live timing indicating Bearman crossed the line before the red flag was officially shown on the start gantry, stewards disallowed his lap.

Haas released a statement expressing their belief that the decision was mistaken and their request for clarification:

"After discussions last night with the FIA, we have subsequently asked for further written clarification on the decision-making concerning Ollie Bearman's final Q1 lap, in order for us to review more comprehensively.

We similarly asked what measures the FIA/race control can put in place moving forward to ensure that this situation is avoided in the future to the benefit of F1. Upon review we will be more informed to comment."

The FIA defended their decision, stating Bearman crossed the line after the red flag was set (specifically 3.3 seconds after).

Bearman himself called the decision "unfair," arguing he did not receive the red light signal on his dash until well after the line and outboard video showed no red flag displayed when he crossed.
