Netflix's Drive to Survive Scoops Prestigious Award at Sports Emmys
Netflix's popular docuseries Formula 1: Drive to Survive has won a prestigious Sports Emmy award.
Winning the award for Outstanding Documentary Series – Serialized at the 46th Annual Sports Emmy Awards, this marks the second time the show has received this accolade, the first being in 2022.
The winning series covered the 2023 F1 season, which saw Max Verstappen secure his third world championship.
Launched in 2019, Drive to Survive has gained massive global popularity, amassing over 700 million viewers and significantly influencing the growth of F1 fandom.
Executive producer James Gay-Rees commented on the season, noting that despite Verstappen's dominance, the fight for lower positions and stories of drivers like Oscar Piastri, Pierre Gasly, and Daniel Ricciardo provided compelling content. He mentioned that the series even considered adding more episodes due to the abundance of stories.
