Lando Norris reiterates F1 title stance as Red Bull threat acknowledged

Summary
Lando Norris remains focused on the season ahead, not the title race, despite teammate Oscar Piastri's strong start. Norris aims to be in contention after the summer break, acknowledging Red Bull's threat but emphasizing his team's focus on race-day performance.

Lando Norris has insisted he "won't care" about the state of the F1 title race until the summer break, after falling further behind team-mate Oscar Piastri.

Piastri's third win on the bounce in Miami was his fourth from six races to start the season. The Australian heads into the Emilia Romagna GP weekend 16 points clear of Norris, meaning Piastri will maintain the lead until the Spanish GP at least.

Both are chasing a maiden world championship title, with Norris struggling at times under pressure after a qualifying fumble in Bahrain and a crash in Saudi Arabia - both races Piastri won.

Reflecting on the situation, the Briton felt it was far too early to be considering the title race.

"No, I think I've said it before, I probably won't care, I don't care about it, and I won't think about it until probably more like the summer," Norris replied when asked for his thoughts on the title situation.

"It is very easy for things to change quickly. No is the answer.

"There is no race which is more important than another, and we treat every race one at a time.

"We've seen from the beginning of the season that Red Bull is not far behind, Mercedes can not be far behind, and both teams have out-qualified us several times and are doing a good job.

"It's clear we are doing a better job at the end of the day because all the points do not just come on a Saturday, which is where they have done a better job.

"Every race is important, and we know that [Red Bull] has upgrades, but they talk a lot and at the end of the day, we just need to do a good job on Sunday, and that is where our focus is.

"If we keep focusing on ourselves, we will be fine."
