Verstappen further solidified his position by pitting under a Virtual Safety Car and mastering a crucial Safety Car restart with just 10 laps left at Imola.

Lando Norris claimed second for McLaren, using significantly fresher Pirelli tires to pass Piastri late in the race. Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc provided some cheer for the home crowd (Tifosi), finishing fourth and sixth respectively, a notable improvement after a challenging qualifying session.
