Haas seeking further FIA answers after Imola confusion

Summary
Haas F1 is seeking further clarification from the FIA after a confusing Q1 session at Imola where Oliver Bearman's lap time was deleted due to a red flag, despite the team arguing he crossed the line before the signal.

The Haas F1 team is seeking further clarification from the FIA regarding the confusion over Oliver Bearman's lap time during Q1 at Imola.

Bearman completed his final lap just as a red flag was deployed due to Franco Colapinto's crash. Haas contended that Bearman's lap should have counted as he crossed the timing line before the red flag signal was fully activated.

This incident caused a significant delay to Q2 and ultimately saw Bearman eliminated in 19th place. The FIA stated that Bearman crossed the line 3.3 seconds after the red flag was deployed. Haas, however, wants a more thorough understanding to prevent similar situations in the future.

"We have subsequently asked for further written clarification on the decision making concerning Ollie Bearman’s final Q1 lap in order for us to review more comprehensively," a Haas spokesperson said. "We similarly asked what measures the FIA/Race Control can put in place moving forward to ensure that this situation is avoided in the future to the benefit of F1.

"Upon review we will be more informed to comment."

Bearman's teammate Esteban Ocon also failed to advance from Q1 and will start the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix from 18th.
