FIA Ratifies Major 2027-2028 Formula 1 Engine Rule Changes

The FIA has ratified major updates to Formula 1's 2027-2028 power unit regulations, moving from a 50/50 split to a 60/40 ratio favoring the internal combustion engine. The June 23 decision raises ICE output to 450kW while cutting MGU-K output to 300kW.

• Rule tweaks: Testing expands to four days from 2027. Heat Hazard protocols can now be set separately for Sprints and Grands Prix, and boost mode returns for wet 2026 races.
