The FIA has confirmed that Oscar Piastri's McLaren MCL39 conformed to the 2025 Formula 1 technical regulations following a thorough inspection after the Miami Grand Prix.

The Verdict

Jo Bauer, the FIA's Formula 1 technical delegate, stated that car number 81 (Piastri) was randomly selected for in-depth physical inspections of its wheel bodywork assemblies. The checks focused on compliance with TR Article 3.13 and physical adherence to TR Article 11.5 across all four corners.

  • All inspected components were found to be compliant with the 2025 Formula One Technical Regulations.

Leclerc's Ferrari Also Inspected

Charles Leclerc's Ferrari (car number 16) was also randomly chosen for similar extensive physical inspections in Miami. The focus was on the steering wheel assembly.

  • The steering wheel assembly was verified against the Online Single Seater Collaboration (OSC) submission as per TR Article 17.6.

  • The clutch operating device was examined in line with TR Article 9.3.2.

  • The electronic submission provided by the team was compared with the physical steering wheel.

  • General compliance checks were conducted against TR Articles 8.3 and 8.7.

  • All inspected components of Leclerc's Ferrari were also found to be in conformance with the 2025 Formula One Technical Regulations.
