Historic First as British F4 Joins British Grand Prix Support Bill

Summary

British Formula 4 will join the support bill at the British Grand Prix in July, a historic first where Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3, and Formula 4 will all race on the same weekend.

While Formula 2 and Formula 3 were already confirmed, British F4, a regional championship, has been added for the first time.

This will be a non-points scoring event, featuring two 25-minute races plus one lap each. The F4 cars will be on track on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Notable graduates of British F4 include:

  • Oscar Piastri (current F1 championship leader)
  • Jack Doohan
  • Logan Sargeant
  • Colton Herta (IndyCar star)
  • Lando Norris (won the championship in 2015 when it was MSA Formula)

Eve Lake-Grange, British F4 Championship Manager, stated:

"It goes without saying that this is a real milestone moment for everyone that is involved with the F4 British Championship... To have the opportunity to compete on the support bill of Formula 1 at the British Grand Prix is something that we’ve been working towards for a long time, so we are delighted to have been able to now make it happen."

She added:

"We pride ourselves on being the first step on the pathway to Formula 1, and for our drivers to be able to see the potential career roadmap that is ahead of them, on the same weekend that they are competing, will be both special and inspiring."

"The level of interest that we’ve had for this non-championship event has been incredible so far, and we’re shaping up to confirm a bumper, ultra-competitive grid. There is no bigger stage than Formula 1, and we’re all incredibly excited to put on a show for the hundreds of thousands of fans that will be in attendance at Silverstone in July."
