Alonso and Albon Move Past US GP Spat With Playful Mexico Exchange

Fernando Alonso and Alex Albon appear to have put their US Grand Prix disagreement behind them, sharing a playful moment at a fan event in Mexico City. The exchange came days after Alonso publicly criticised Albon over their Austin collision, turning a tense storyline into a lighter note before the Mexico City GP.

Why it matters:

Public driver spats can dominate a race weekend narrative, especially between two experienced drivers. Alonso’s criticism added edge to a collision that already raised questions about racing room. Their willingness to joke together in Mexico suggests the issue is not carrying into the next event.

The details:

• Alonso criticised Albon earlier in the week following their US GP contact.
• The pair came face to face at a Mexico City fan event, where Alonso shared a playful joke with the Williams driver.
• The moment seemed to show the incident is behind them—or at least that neither wants a lingering feud.
• Both now prepare for the Mexico City GP, where focus returns to performance and points.

What’s next:

Mexico offers both drivers a chance to move on quickly. Alonso needs more from Aston Martin’s package; Albon will aim to continue Williams’ recent progress. Any renewed contact will be watched closely, but the fan-event exchange points to a cooler tone.
