2025 F1 British Grand Prix Driver Ratings
The RacingNews365 Driver Ratings for the 2025 F1 British Grand Prix are in – but do you agree with our scores?
A chaotic, rain-affected British Grand Prix at Silverstone ended with a home victory, a controversial penalty, and the breaking of F1's longest podium drought. There were more ups and downs in Northamptonshire than in a game of Snakes and Ladders, but how did RacingNews365 rate each driver and their performance?
The Top Performers
- Oscar Piastri - 8.5: Despite a penalty that handed his teammate the win, Piastri was the stronger McLaren in crucial moments. He out-qualified Norris and effectively managed Verstappen, forcing errors. His incident, however, cost valuable points in the tight title fight.
- Lando Norris - 8: While faster on Friday, Norris slipped in qualifying and couldn't match Piastri or Verstappen. He secured his second consecutive win due to Piastri's penalty, a welcome result in his F1 career.
- Nico Hulkenberg - 8: A deserved podium for Hulkenberg, showcasing immense experience in treacherous conditions. He expertly managed to hold off Lewis Hamilton after they both passed Lance Stroll, although he was out-qualified by his teammate.
- Max Verstappen - 8: Verstappen's pole lap was spectacular, but a gamble with a trimmed rear wing proved risky in the rain. Despite an "undriveable" car after a spin, he recovered impressively to finish fifth.
- Pierre Gasly - 7.5: Gasly extracted a remarkable performance from the Alpine, qualifying in the top 10 and finishing sixth, holding off strong competition.
The Lower Scorers
- Ollie Bearman - 4.5: A weekend of extremes for Bearman. A careless FP3 incident and a penalty for pit-entry speed were notable. However, he still qualified the Haas in the top 10 despite a grid drop. Despite contact with Tsunoda and his teammate, he secured a point, albeit in a messy performance.
- Charles Leclerc - 4: Out-qualified by Hamilton, Leclerc's race was effectively over after a pit stop during the formation lap. He finished 14th, the last driver on the lead lap, after an error-strewn drive.
- Gabriel Bortoleto - 4: While out-qualifying Hulkenberg was a positive, it was a messy weekend overall. His FP3 crash and a slick-tyre change incident capped a difficult event.
- Yuki Tsunoda - 3.5: The only driver lapped, Tsunoda struggled significantly. Despite avoiding a Q1 exit and taking 11th on the grid, he fell back during the race, receiving a penalty for colliding with Bearman.
- Franco Colapinto - 3: Struggling in qualifying, Colapinto spun after hitting a kerb, ending his race prematurely. This performance likely did not please team advisor Flavio Briatore. He retired due to a gearbox failure.
