Doc 14 - Event Notes - Pirelli Preview V2

Technical/ScrutineeringNotices/Procedures

This document, issued by the FIA Formula One Race Director, provides essential information regarding tyre operations for the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix (December 5-7, 2025). It outlines the circuit layout, tyre compounds, and specific prescriptions for pressures and camber.

Key Information:

Circuit Layout:

  • DRS Detection Zones: Two detection zones are indicated on the circuit map.
  • Speed Trap: One speed trap is marked.

Tyre Compounds:

  • Slicks: C3, C4, C5 are available.
  • Intermediate: Designated for mixed conditions.
  • Wet: Designated for wet conditions.
  • Mandatory Race Tyres: C3, C4.
  • Q3 Tyre: C5.

Prescriptions (Pressures & Camber):

Minimum Starting Pressure:

  • Slicks: Front 24.5 psi, Rear 21.5 psi.
  • Intermediate: Front 24.5 psi, Rear 22.5 psi.
  • Wet: Front 22.5 psi, Rear 20.5 psi.

Expected Stabilized Running Pressure:

  • Front: ≥27.0 psi
  • Rear: ≥24.0 psi

Camber Limit:

  • Front: -3.00°
  • Rear: -2.00°

Cold Pressure Cooling Curve:

  • Formulas are provided for calculating front and rear pressures based on tyre temperature (T):
    • Pfront = (T - 70) * 0.123 + Pstartf
    • Prear = (T - 70) * 0.114 + Pstartr
  • Pstartf: Minimum starting pressure on the front axle [psi]
  • Pstartr: Minimum starting pressure on the rear axle [psi]
  • T: Tyre temperature [°C]

Maximum Heating Times and Temperatures (Tread & Sidewall):

  • Slicks & Intermediate: Maximum 2 hours heating time, up to 70°C.
  • Wet: No blankets allowed.
  • Note: Temperatures refer to actual tyre tread and sidewall temperatures, not blanket or controller set-point temperatures. Tyres may only be heated prior to the session in which they are intended to be used. These temperatures apply at all times during the event.

Tyre Notes:

  • Tyres are not permitted to be switched from their originally allocated position.
  • Tyres should not be subjected to large deformation or heavy impact.
  • Fitted tyres should not be exposed to air temperatures lower than 10°C or excessive UV emission.
  • Revised prescriptions may be issued during the race weekend in accordance with TD003.
  • Cut-off time for fitting tyres on Sunday morning is 4 hours prior to the race start.
  • Heating time temperature limits apply to the actual tyre surface temperature measured with an IR gun.
  • Blanket heating time for each temperature range is counted from the moment the blanket control unit reaches its targeted temperature.
  • Cold pressure cooling curve temperature limits apply to the average of 5 TPMS spots.

General Notes:

Teams are reminded that the following will be subject to FIA checks during the event:

  • Starting pressures
  • Cold pressures (according to the cold pressure cooling curves)
  • Re-heat pressures
  • EOS Camber
  • Maximum tyre temperatures and times in blankets
  • Tyre swapping
